Rotomolder Video

This half minute video shows the roto-casting machine turning at 3 rpm.

It is powered by a stepper from one of the CNC machines, but other motors will work as mentioned on the Rotomolder page.

The jar represents the mold. It is holding a few ounces of fiberglass polyester resin. This is often found at boat chandleries, auto parts stores and surf shops.

The inside of the mold should be coated with a release agent before the resin is added. Vaseline works fairly well.

The jar (mold) is positioned so it is balanced in the machine. This is necessary for the rotomolder to turn smoothly and to not overload the motor or gears.
The jar is physically off-center, but in terms of weight, the system is balanced.
